So, let me get this straight. FMCSA has dropped the speed limiter idea, and a couple of you guys think thats it? Story over? Done deal? Wont come back?
    Are you really that dumb?
And my new soon to be ex boss is all excited about the idea. He can't wait. He thinks 75 is much to fast for trucks to run.
He's a bit retarded though. No, for real, he's on the spectrum. Its why Im leaving the company after 12 years.

Well, depending on the tire ratings it might be too fast.

There won't be a mandated speed limiter law in the USA. Why? Because for the government to do this, there going to have too show cause. They're going to have to make publicly available, fatality crash statistics covering at least 2005-2016. These stats will have to be all-inclusive of any/all crashes involving a commercial truck on any US roadway. These crash stats will have to be very detailed, and all-inclusive (not cherry picked). These stats will have to indicate a road speed leading up to all crashes of all vehicles involved.

What this will show is there are more crashes originating at 65 mph (or MUCH LESS) than there are at 75+ mph. Now, it's no secret there exponentially more trucks on the roads limited to 65 or less then there are trucks unlimited or 70+, so this can be explained, but it CAN NOT prove the need for ALL trucks to be limited.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY - these stats will show,
    • average age of driver's involved
    • carrier involved
    • date/time of crash
    • number of deaths/injuries
    • driver's experience level (months employed at current carrier)
    • elogs or paper logs
    • road conditions
    • drug screen of all involved drivers
    • preliminary cause of crash
    • crash investigation completed or not
    • etc
All these things [once looked at honestly by various interests] will shed light on aspects of trucking that will work against the desires of anyone pushing for speed limiters and/or who represent major carrier in the ATA who don't want certain realties to become public knowledge. Speed limiters will be proven to be the least of what the trucking industry should be concerned with. So. Don't worry about it.

That's why I live in the USA. You people are just ripe for gossip believe anything you hear and pass it as the gospel.

We had them as well and I can attest to doing, err... hearing about the various ways to defeat them.

I could. Pretty close to it anyway.

I trip plan at 30, log at no more than 45. Company usually tracks at 45 for those who are running late on the 6 am round up... for some of those people who get that call me message, it will be their last day.

Gone are the trucks that can run upgrade at twice posted. (On momentum anyhow... then on declining rpm.)

But most Canadian drivers turn that thing wide open over here in the USA. I do not care if they open it up. Bless their efforts to be free.
