For the life of me I can't understand how guys who seems to have their feet firmly planted in earth can get themselves banned. I had thought about him for a long time and was sure that I had missed something. Did I ever.

Just talked to an ol boy runnin an '89 379 here at the reciever in Laredo. For an old work truck, it didnt look too bad and it makes $$.

I think you hit the highlights. Like any of these old trucks check the hood hinges, door handles (the new replacements will rust in six months), loose wiper linkage (I've had mine fall off). I've seen sleeper mount issues if people let them go to far. Rear suspension bushings don't last to long and can tear up the housing. A/C lines to the sleeper are notorious for rusting out. Thru peterbilt they'll cost more than the truck to replace. We buy all are a/c parts thru ap air. If they don't have the part you can send them the old one and they'll build it the same day they receive it.

Got a new toy in the mail this week.
I only need to do a few holes. Looked at used ones for the last 6 months but they all looked like junk. I tried a couple of holes on the frame with a hand drill and that's just not going to work out. Believe it or not guys say these get the work done with a nice sharp bit?

Reamer is the way to go. Drill a pilot hole and finish with a quality reamer.

Set up with a 7/8" bit through a 3/8" pilot hole.
Or, you can use annular cutters that make slugs like these. I drill a smaller pilot hole for the centering pin instead of using a punch mark to line up the more critical holes. -
Sitting in Cotulla, Tx waiting on a couple guys to cut this conveyer thing apart to load on my trailer. We'll see how long this takes lol.

Tulia TX. Woke up and peeked out the curtains. DOT man giving some ole boy with a walking floor wagon a full going-over, complete with portables. Right in the truck stop parking lot.
peterbilt_2005, SAR, sawmill and 7 others Thank this. -
I've never seen a mag drill by that name. I need to buy a quality set of center punches up through some big sizes. A center punch and my eyeballing aren't for accurate holes. My suspension swap is proof of fixing of center holes.
Somebody should have run that guy off. I know in some states the man cannot go onto private property do do his thing.
