I can see a shuttle driver using 2 straps. Set the parking brake? Next I guess they will want them to roll the window up. Lol

The thing is, if you use 4 all the time, and have a good routine down, it really doesn't take that much longer. Same as it was in the chain trucks: These guys running and jumping and short-chaining as if their load time dictated their level of masculinity, and they be done less than 10 minutes than an efficient guy who 4 chained.

About a month ago I had a nasty old stinger pass me.
As it went by I noticed no wheel straps, I figured as old as it looked must be a chain trailer..
Nope this dude just drove them on and rolled, no straps, and no chains..

I thought to myself WTF ??

    BigBob410 Thanks this.

You should see the Allied (now JC) shuttles to the KC mixing center. Pop the hook in the slot and spin the winch hand tight. It's only a couple miles of 435, but that's still mighty brave.

It’s only a matter of time and most likely a short time before that guy has a life changing experience...

I believe it's safer to strap or chain all 4 wheels; all the time.

You never know when you will encounter a hard braking manuever.

If you run Ontario Canada, strap all 4. Failure to do so is insecure load at 390$ per strap... can be expensive to save a few minutes. Not that we don't have a few numb skulls who do it anyway because if you aren't fast, you are not a good car hauler!

I was loading in Port Newark years ago on a chain truck (before anyone was using straps). I stacked the tractor and had 2 on top of the trailer lifted the trailer deck but hadn't chained any cars yet. a new guy came over to ask a question. I walked away from my truck to his. Finished helping him and went back to my load. Put 3 on the bottom chained and rolled out. I got to Elkton to get fuel and was checking my load and realized I hadn't put a single chain on either of the cars on the top deck!!! Don't know how I made it down the turnpike and 95 to Elkton with nothing moving but I made it!! I'd rather be lucky than good any day!!!
As far as 2 strapping goes it will work but at a lot of companies and with the OEMs it's more headaches than it is worth. I four strap 'em all... nobody wants to be "that guy" that's on the poster in safety!!
