    So, let's see how this works out.

    Guy bids the $519 because he's afraid he won't "win the load."

    Sits at the dock loading for 2 hours.

    Drives the 317 miles, including rush hour traffic, from Phoenix to Colton. Let's assume 7 hours.

    Sits at the loading dock for 2 hours.

    Total hours on that load 11 hours. Which equals $47 an hour total to the truck.

    What boggles my mind is that there are so-called owner operators who do this every day.

    When I was towing out there, I towed guys working for that money. San Diego to Phoenix drop and hook with produce for Dole (80k) one way loaded, one way empty for $850. Guys couldn't figure out why their drive lines were grenading in the mountains. What a joke

    Good thing fuel is $1, and tires are $10 a pop. I was so relieved when I starting getting 18 tires for $180 plus tax and fet. And thank goodness the stealerships went down to $30 and hour. And also, I'm glad parts went up in quality and have gotten so cheap.

    New flatbeds are 7k $$ too
