Except it’s not. It can come from a medium priced hotel. Or just a trainee who stayed in a hotel waiting for his trainer. That’s how it began at my company. And we have brand new trucks!

Bedbugs can live in lots of places. They also can live for I think a year to a year and a half with no food. They can be transported by people, pets, etc. Wife is a gm of a hotel down here on the sandbar. It's not like their roaches where you see them, or the evidence of them. Lot of people never know til it's to late. Hotels nowadays take it as a big concern. Kill business quick like if the word is your a bed bug haven. lol.

One of those mattress bags will work great to keep your bed safe. Throw everything in the dryer if you think you have had a run in with them. The high heat will kill them. They also aren't a dirty bug. Anyone can get them. You from some scrub on the road, your kids at school, your wife at the dog park, etc. An if you ever see furniture on the side of the road with an X carved in it, that's one of the signs of bedbugs infested furniture.

I've known rich people with bedbugs, I've known poor people. It's all about catching them before it gets to bad. You can also train dogs to sniff them out. Heh. Whenever we travel..first thing the wife does is check the furniture in the room we're staying in.

TLDR - Bedbugs suck. They can live a long time without food. They can be carried by humans and animals.

Good night, an don't let the bedbugs bite!

That’s why they attack and bite you at night. The poor little fellas haven’t eaten in a long time! :)

One does not get bed bugs from not showering. Normally one will come into contact with them in hotels and motels, or if one lives in a less than desirable apartment complex or similar living arrangement. Be careful where you place your duffel bag, and if you do stay in a motel or hotel, inspect. Or, do like I do, if the accommodations are not to your liking, use the facilities and sleep in the truck. ;-)

You're so on top of things. Looks like you were schooled pretty good on this subject. There is a saying about keeping your mouth shut when you don't know about something, rather than opening it and proving that you're a fool.
    Happy Trails! :)

I don’t get the OP saying Walmart has lowered their standard so that now they attract “typical” OTR drivers (who have bedbugs on them).

That whole concept is ridiculous. .

The average otr driver is filthy, doesn’t shower, has zero manners and guess what?? They’re coming to Walmart in droves. It’s amazing, you lower the pay and these guys line up. Half won’t even wear the uniform assigned to them because “it’s not comfortable.”

These new drivers are going to be the end for our job. This is how I see our future. I think the next step we will take a pay cut and be placed on the new pay scale. Then eventually we will loose our activity pay. These new drivers think they know everything and treat this job like they are driving for one of the mega carriers. This is my 3rd job with a private fleet. I’m starting to see the same things starting to go on here. That went on with the others I worked for it’s just a matter of time for us.
