Isn't it dumb. The heavy freight is the cheapest freight.
Hauled a load of industrial pump fittings today @40k for $500- 30 miles.
A load of 48k lumber going 150 miles pays $325.

Those are the loads on my broker's e-mail list: 150 miles, crossing scales/ state lines with 48,000 pounds- keep dry. $325.
My favorite is 200+ miles, over Black Mountain into the hills, 48k, must tarp, appointment required at shipper and receiver, $450. Just take my money, I don't need it.cke and whoopNride Thank this. -
Did you buy your curtainside with the intention of doing this kind of work?
Sounds like you'd be better off finding a better place to get freight from.OLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, johndeere4020 and 2 others Thank this. -
No.
I did not plan on hauling just lumber.
I have one broker who told me how awesome his loads were and how he could always keep me loaded. He put me on his e-mail list and gave me a few good loads then started pushing out his regular lumber loads.
I'm trying out a dispatch service right now. So far, it's ok. Lighter loads and better pay.
We'll see how it goes.cke Thanks this. -
