This is how lots and lots of stuff that needs to be tarped is. It sits outside at the shipper and then sits outside at the receiver... Like steel beams that are rusty as can be but they still want it tarped...LOL... Its crazy but part of the job.

Tarps are how much? Couple hundred bucks if that? Come on, bro, simple math. If they want me to buy a $250 tarp so I can receive the full tarp fee... sign me up, mofo, math ain’t difficult!!!

The problem with many of you guys is that you accept being taken advantage of. My company has a right to charge me for the use of their equipment (asset), but not to my labor. If they pay me per hour then you might have an argument, but they don’t, and ELDs have made it worse, so wise up!

    Lumber Tarp

Go buy a set bro. Tell your employer you supply the tarps so you want the whole tarp charge.

A set of lumber tarps for 250? I have over 300 in this slightly over size steel tarp. 16x32 boxed out made in America with USA vinyl.

Had a load of lumber once that I tarped BUT didn't throw enough bungees at it,so 400 miles of rain and slop later when I pull into the customer the first thing that guy did was jam a "moisture meter" into a stack of plastic wrapped and tarped 2 x 4's.........looked at me and said,"You better call your dispatcher because your company just bought a load of lumber"..........That was quite a ### eating I took for that goof :eek:

Let’s be real, my company would still say no because they’re making profit off it. Those $1000 tarps can be paid off in a few tarped loads.

Anyway, this wasn’t my main point of this post. I wanted to understand the price model because I’m going to buy my own truck in 6 months so it’s a detail I wasn’t sure about.

    Thanks.

We have a few loads that pay way more then most to tarp them. They take two guys half a day to a full day to tarp. The load I’m thinking of requires a 40x 60 tarp and a regular lumber tarp.

Here’s the kicker. It’s wraped in plastic and doesn’t need to be kept dry. It’s just so people can’t see what it is.

Btw your not going to move a 40x60 by hand. It’s about a 700 pound tarp.

    sawmill and Ruthless Thank this.
