Back in my days there I would always do that. My home is Ohio, my terminal was IGH and whenever I was running too much of the Midwest, a fast home request for either Phoenix or El Paso and once in awhile Laredo. Depending on where the fr8 was. My DM always knew what I was doing since before he became a DM there he was a L/O there and he would do the same thing.

Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
Columbus, OH.
I accepted a load that was supposed to t-call here at 0830. It's going to Chicago for a 0830 live unload tomorrow morning.
When I went in at 0830 to check on it I was told that the driver was still in the sleeper berth and he was still in WV - a good 3 hours (drive time) away.
Very inconsiderate not to send a mac-22 to update the eta. -
Hickory, NC or somewhere close to it. Headed to Charlotte.
To “reposition” myself using hometime requests could I just send a request to go to say, Laredo or Phoenix and then cancel the request once I’m on a load that goes to that area?
I’d like to run Midwest/west more often but don’t want to sacrifice home time if those requests are going to count against my actual home time. -

You can not cancel or change a home time request. Not even your DM can do that.
Once it is in the system, it is there until it is completed. -

Me, too. I think some DMs hold company drivers' feet to the fire with one day hometime for seven days driving.

Lancaster, the amount of quiet here has me thinking we’re on lockdown until the roads are clear.

Send a macro 10 the day before your delivery telling the planners the area you prefer to go. It makes their job easier sending you a preplan you're likely to accept rather than ones you'll decline. You can also decline preplans with the reason, "prefer to get headed toward home in...", which will also help them plan you.
Try to use a hometime request to reposition sparingly and remember you cannot request another for less than 12 days after the last one. I hope this helps.
