This aint the end of the world for you man. You are furious over nothing. What is the recruiter suppose to do? Just throw out the rules for every military vet that comes along?

You are demanding respect for your time of service from the mountain top here. There are plenty of folks that respect military buy you cannot go around demanding extra privileges for it. Just move on and find another company.

And no I am not anti-military. I too am marine corps 0311 vet myself that has been to Al-qa'im iraq back in 2005.

What the gaps imply is that the applicant may have been in prison in a foreign country. Normally, a company will request proof that you were around. Strange and nasty that Millis didn't ask for proof of his whereabouts. His father's death certificate should have been enough explanation for them.

Doesn't Millis use spy cams? Wouldn't work for a trash company like that.

I am sorry to read what you experienced. I had a similar experience but with a different outcome.

I applied to their student program just to see if I could get accepted. I waited the same as you, but did not receive a phone call in the time they say they will call. I finally called back and when the recruiter looked me up (and I do not have my notes handy as I have moved since then) they said the reason why I didn't get a call was because of a gap in my "employment" history which automatically kicked the application to a different holding area.

My gap was also for caring for aging parents. The difference is (i am guessing) that I had retired at age 65 from my previous career. When I explained the reason for my "unemployment" they said that it shouldn't create a problem and the discussion then went on to when the next few classes were offered, etc. Because of other factors I did not go with Millis but that is beyond this discussion.

Another thing you could do is go back and edit your application and for that period say "self employed" and position of Elder Caretaker. That "job" can be used on future applications as well. Were my life circumstances different I probably would have gone with Millis.

I would suggest calling and ask to speak with the recruiting manager or if not that person someone a bit higher up. If you really want to work for them then don't let the first "no" stop you.

The thread that convinced me (if you haven't already read it) was this one by @CaptainDaveG Millis Transfer School Journey (Richfield Wi Starting 8/18/2014

(sorry, don't know how to put a link in a shorter description)

    Good Luck

They are required by law to have an accounting of your last 10 year employment history with no gaps. Gaps must be proven with sone kind of documentation.

I have been accepted into school and this thread made me question what should I put for self employment so I emailed my recruiter and explained my concern she emailed me and I called she told me to just fill out the last 3 years and don't worry about the rest my response (me being a worry wart and all) was well the application calls for the last 10 years she replied that all they care about is the last 3 years now I have no gaps in the last 3 years so this doesn't directly pertain to your problem but maybe someone somewhere can use the information to be on the safe side I will take one with last 10 years and one with just the last 3 she said all the d.o.t wants is the information i gave them but in my handwriting but I was under the impression that they (d.o.t) needed 10 years

You will have to fill out a 10 year application at orientation as that is required by law. Companies do not contact any company that you have worked at that is more than 3 years ago. They only contact the ones during the last three years.
