speaking of brakes out of adjustment....
intercompany mag had a tidbit...
when hooking a new (to you) trailer, apply 80psi of stomp to the pedal... this will allow the slacks to self adjust so the brakes are in adjustment.
something something... average in use guy only applies 12-20 when stopping and we been getting nailed in dot's... from brakes out of adj. ect...

If it wasn't for self adjusting brakes, their would be alot of trucks in trouble on the roads. considering alot of these new drivers on the road today rreally are not mechanically inclined.

I agree. Yet, in my experience, self adjusting brakes won't self adjust if lubrication is neglected. The old grease must be purged out of self adjusting brakes. I takes more effort to manually adjust a malfunctioning self adjuster. I was glad to spend my last five years pulling stout, older trailers with manual adjusters. We had a tight periodic maintenance program with one company mechanic who was also a driver when needed. Too many bigger companies who lease their trailers seem to have no trailer inspection or lubrication whatsoever.psanderson Thanks this.

Are you suggesting sir, that you can't tell the difference between the brakes set & released? You either need to learn how to inspect and adjust the brakes, inspect and get them adjusted in your shop, or find another line of work sir B-4 you kill someone on the road.

I was going to say something like this but the last time I did I was reprimanded by the truckers staff. -
I was wondering how to disengage from "spring break"?
Quit drinking and leave the hotel? Pack up your stuff from the beach and get back to work?
J/K LOL
On a serious note...
Sounds like the trailer brakes were not in adjustment if the truck was easily moved. I'd suspect it was probably only one wheel with hot brakes and the rest were most likely cool?psanderson Thanks this. -
What is in that "break glass in emergency" bottle??

I think it's a cigarette and a match.
