reminds me of last year when we were dismantling a maytag factory in newton iowa, and one of our torch men using a high pressure cutting torch, cut completely through one of the fiber optic lines running through the plant, after being told several times to stay completely away from those lines and be sure not to demage any of them. Cost company plenty for that mistake, to say the less he no longer works for the company.

Getting back on topic...
Sometimes pictures drive the message home, so here are a few I took in Illinios today. I dont know how these wrecks happened(one looks like it was a gust of wind), but none the less, they are bad...especially the USA truck wreck. -
When I was an instructor, it was easy to tell the guys who had about a year on the road. Many hadn't run into any real trouble, but had just enough experience to get overconfident. One of my students laughed at me when I told him to slow down when the road iced up (he was up against the governor)... I had him pull over and took over. He didn't drive with me any more.

hey spacer, i don't blame you for not wanting to even be in the truck with this type of a driver. These types driver don't even need to be in the trucking industry period. Usually they end up getting into a crash and killing others and left with destroying many families life including their own. Just like the 4 wheeler trucks, suv's see them everyday day around here, flying like a bat out of hell with no concern about anyone. It's not the driving part they misunderstand it's the control and braking in time part. All i have to say is idiots !!!!!!!!!!!.
Spacer Thanks this. -
I was behind a container hauler in Charleston, SC, as we took an interchange.
Keeping to the ramp speed limit (which we know is geared more toward cars anyway), I watched him pull away quickly.
Knowing this was a decreasing-radius turn, I watched with a weird sort of fascination as his right wheel got lighter and lighter... until he tipped and went skidding over into the other highway's access road.
He came over to me, and pleaded in an incredibly heavy accent, "Tell the officer that I was doing fifteen!"
Uhm... nope.
Those container loads, unless you know exactly what's in 'em and exactly how they're loaded... -
The worst thing in winter is white out. This happened to me on Snow Shoe in PA a couple years ago. Scary. Can't really slow down, because that endangers the other drivers who ALSO can't see anything. Of course, everyone was already down to about 20-25mph. Just hold on to the wheel and pray. BUT the bad weather is really only a few days in each year, and we deal with it. Just slow down, be careful, and don't let ANYONE else be the "captain of your ship". Never let someone else (not even a dispatcher) determine how fast or slow you go. You get it there with the rubber side on the pavement.
