You don't need to discuss your past employment unless you're asked specific questions. Call a recruiter and tell them you want to drive. If you can pass a drug test and a physical you're on your way.

Never mind the school You are there to learn to drive a CDL Truck. And to learn just enough to pass the State Test for CDL A.

The employment history will go back 7 years. If not 10. This is for mostly Homeland Security these days but used to be 7 years before 9-11. What they are interested in is if you had gaps between your jobs. You need to account for those.

Make up a formal list of your time to your first job or 7 years whichever is first after high school. And make a stack of copies so you can turn them in with applications.

PA is a rather big trucking area. Don't just focus on Harrisburg. Hanover, York most especially, camp hill, east of the airport, williamsport etc all have trucking companies out the wazoo. If I remember right Harrisburg has international paper, General Mills, JB Hunt and a number of other outfits So does Allentown etc.

You will also find that in OTR trucking you will learn to treat the entire United States as a potential source of employment. Not just little Harrisburg.

 

Employment history will hurt you with some companies such as Prime.
On the applications, read the questions carefully and don't give information that isn't asked for.
If they want 3 yr. employment history, don't give them more than 3 years, etc.
