very true but in policy book it should state that you cant have a tempory hook up also my truck was worked on many times and over a year not a word was said. your right i should of gotten it in writeing i feel since it wasnt bolted to battery not even connected to battery if they didnt like the set up they could just say so i would of gotten it off the truck. my job is more inportant .
Your right the policy would seem to suggest hardwired setups and not temporary ones. But lets face it, the outcome is the same because you and not the shop installed it and it is hooked to the battery.
I having experience with different company's when seeing this policy automatically would deduce that they only want me to use a small inverter that can be plugged into the dc outlet on the truck.
Whenever you have a question about a company's policy's the lowest person on the totem pole you should be conversing with is the Terminal Manager to clarify the policy.
now im having a hard time finding something else. if i dont find something soon ill be homeless
Well if you have not filed for unenjoyment, you should and then explain the circumstances of your termination if the company tries to fight it.
Drivers should also be saving up money till it equals at least 8 months of living expenses so that you are not all panicky if you lose your job. Trucking has all sorts of ways to make you unemployed so you should be saving from day 1.

I think we all should give rich4trucking some slack, things are hard for every body right now
Hey Timtruck your going to scare off all our posters if you keep picking on them LOLCybergal, Dr. Venture and panhandlepat Thank this. -
I think drivers need to follow the rules, and quit looking for loop holes. If company policy says the shop must install than so be it. You were cheap and looked for a easy way out and put the truck at risk, not very professional! I would have fired you too. The company i work for says the same thing and i am sure i could find somekind of double talk to worm around it but i like my job. You must not have liked yours very much, 40 bucks a week for a month is not alot to pay, bet if you had to do over again you would see that!

this will be the last time i reply you. you say dont insult your intelligence but you keep saying things that are not intelligent. i asked the head mechanic at terminal before i did it because the policy said you cannot have a permanent connection to battery for example bolted. the head mechanic said as long as the connection isnt permanently connected to battery it is ok. all im saying is the policy should be clear so every driver will have no problem understanding the policy. also head mechanic should never of said i could do it. and it shouldnt take all this time after they have worked on truck over a long time with the wires visible but not connected. they just wanted an excuse to terminate me. but im ok with it. i served my country in the military which i learned to take pride in everything i do and i learned great work ethics. for your info this was the only time i ever been terminated from any job. i know ill be on my feet again soon today i have found some laeads with some other truck companies. and of course when i start again i will not even take the converter on truck. its not that i went against company policy knowing i was doing it i know how to follow rules and will in my next job .panhandlepat Thanks this.

i was told by the lead mechanic at roehl that the hook up i had was ok because it wasnt a permanent hook up. i contacted dept of labor they said if your terminated you cant get unemployment pay if there is something else i could do id appreciate advice. id try to save money but due to the drop in miles due to economy it has been hard. bills keep coming anyway merry christmas and have a happy new year

i didnt look for a loophole i got permission from a head mechanic from roehl i had thick wires that had battery clips on them when i needed to use the ac/dc converter for something i go hook it to battery then when done i unhook it from battery. all that was explained before i did it. had it over a year had truck worked on nothing ever said about it. just now they say something and terminate me well what could i say. but what is done is done.
