Insuring a non-commercial show truck?

You have me a bit confused. I saw this thread yesterday and thought about posting then. However after sleeping on it I am starting to wonder why? First off with some limited exceptions most of the people that post here have no idea about the insurance you will need. You have a show truck that is great. However I think you would have better luck either in some of the owner operator boards or simply do a google search like this. Don't get me wrong, you have an interesting situation but the questions from new drivers board might not be where you want to be asking these kinds of questions.

 

I don't see the big deal about this, really I don't. PA is the same as other states, maybe going to Vermont or Texas would be a solution. Vermont maybe the best, apply for a new title as an RV and have it inspected to confirm the VIN, apply and get both title and plates from there.

As for insurance, you were told wrong. I have my little RV which is a class 8 truck with a bed on it and it is an RV as far the insurance is concern.

When I was working on my 359, not hauling anything, I had wieghted tags on it but I guess its different from state to state

 

Beautiful truck. Having a show truck looks like it would be just as expensive as a regular semi, but I guess you would really need more liability in case someone did get hurt getting on it, or whatever. Have you tried someone like Farmers for a custom type policy. Husband had it on his motorcycle years ago in 1983, back then it was insured for $3000.00 and then the medical and property damage part.
