Blue tooth is a short range connectivity about 30 feet or so at most. Most of the time it's disabled as a security measure because once you find a open tooth somewhere you can leverage into it and then "Run around" within that device.

It is a good system Ive used it along with qualcomm many a year. Although I suspect it costs like thousands to put into a tractor and so much for every block of text back and forth among other considerations.

The brand I settled on was free through rewards program and the monthly fee $20.00 is free for a year through the same program, support is great, works fine, just put it on my new iPad so I have it on my phone and tablet both now. I really like it and you can't beat the price.

 

Haven't had any problems with it yet. I also run a tablet that is dedicated to that. If it is run on a phone with a BT headset as well, I can see a potential issue.

 

Yep, I ran it on the phone for a good while and never had any issues with the phone functionality but figured the roadside inspection would go better if it was on the tablet attached to the dashboard.

 

Plus the monthly fee per truck. Outrageously expensive, compared to what else there is out there. They spent a lot of money lobbying for the ELD mandate, and they have to recoup that somehow...
