I know Dot Foods trucking comes up every now and then, I found a previous old thread on some Dot Foods related topics, I plan on messaging some members who are Dot drivers, but I can't do that until my post count is up to 50... :glare:

Until then, I was wondering if any current drivers around here might be able to share more about that company and their experience driving for them. I'm less concerned with the amount of pay and time at home than I am with the reliability of the company, ethics, etc.

I live in Los Angeles, if I can sign up with them (albeit I'm a new driver working on getting my CDL) I would like to apply to the Modesto CA base station. The corporate HQ is in Mt. Sterling IL just 8 miles from my hometown of Rushville, which makes it a very convenient and practical company to work for.

I know I would have to unload the freight and toss some groceries around, I'm fine with that. Unlike most girls I can bench press 120lbs and lift something 50+ pounds without any trouble. So I'm not afraid to do some manual labor and drive. It would be a nice variation of just drive and sleep.

Advice, suggestions, and help would be appreciated. :)

Don't worry about putting this company down as imperfect, I know they're not. It's just one I'd like to get hired by and stay with as long as possible rather than start out with Werner, Swift, CR England, CRST, etc.

Watch for outerspacehillbilly to reply to this thread.

He just left DOT not to long ago.... Only reason is because he moved & DOT does not offer service to where he moved too.

    Remrie Thanks this.

I was actually trying to message him when I got hit with the Noobie Swatter that forces me to have 50 posts. If he posts here I got a message ready to copy and paste. :)

Sorry it has taken me a while to get to this thread I' haven't had time to turn my computer on all week. First off you must live within 100 miles of the terminal. Since you don't then they will not hire you.

I have 2 friends that started with them a couple of years ago, both said they are a great company to work for and were true to there word. The pay was very good and they do a great job of training, but you do have to live within 100 miles of a terminal as stated above. From what I can see, they are the best pay for a new driver. Both friends still work for them after 2 years. Goodluck

Thank you so much OuterSpaceHillbilly! Not a problem on the late response.

I've been looking up all the old archives on this The Truckers Report as well as other trucking boards, and talking to current and former employees and gathering all the information I can.

It turns out that Dot Foods does have a few drivers (like 4) doing local runs between Modesto and Los Angeles so mainly doing loads and unloads since the drives are short, I got the number to the lead recruiter over in Mt Sterling and I'm going to try calling him tomorrow (or monday if the office is closed Sun) to see what my options are and what is possible.

I've been taking this entire process seriously because I want to sign up with a good company that doesn't just pay well, but one that I will be comfortable with driving with for the next 5+ years because I don't want to jump companies often and be subject to others like CRST, CR England, Warner, Swift, etc... Since I was born and raised in Rushville IL just 15 miles from Mt. Sterling it has a lot to offer.

I believe they have a drop lot in the LA area which would qualify you for hire.
