That tells you something. I can hear the HR person now, "Holy crap, we have a applicant"!

I have been in three Estes barns. In one of them I was told that they had a new HR person out east, which makes me think they are catching up from the work of the previous one.

Best of luck to you, they're supposed to be a great company to work for.

I've known a hand or two to work there. Good outfit.
Follow up with it... get on if you can.
Likely you'll start linehaul on the extra board.
Then, you'll eventually get a set run, if you want it.
Then, if a local P&D gig is open in your local barn you get find on that.

From what I remember, even the extra board guys got home every week for their resets.
Maybe Sat night, leave Mon night..
Maybe Fri night, leave Sun night.

I worked at Estes for 7 years in St. Louis until just recently. If you’re hiring on as P&D, our start times ranged from 5 am to 1 pm. Most of the senior guys bid around 7 & 8. Some smaller terminals tho everyone starts at the same time. Hours worked is kind of a loaded question. They want you back so your freight picked up makes linehaul service, but you might go back out to do a swap or something. I’d say 45-50 hours a week is a good guesstimate. OT is after 55. Now if your extraboard linehaul you’ll have a start day. Anywhere from Sunday to Thursday. Usually again, the senior guys pick Sunday/Monday for convenience, but in all honestly I feel The Thursday starters get more miles cuz they really want freight moving over the weekend, and there’s no scheduled runs to make that happen. But no matter what day they usually keep you out 5 days. But sometimes you might swing thru during the week, I just wouldn’t PLAN on it. Insurance is good it was like 50 something a week for family. Good coverage, and if it’s just you, it’s free. If you want lemme know what location you applied to, i teamed with them on the wild board for a bit and on that time I saw a lot of the terminals. Best of luck to ya!

I’ve only been to Houston a hand full of times. The only thing I can speak on it is our set was ready and waiting for us everytime we pulled in and we could turn and burn it in about 20 minutes. Other than that unfortunately I don’t have much insight on that location. I would bet tho if you went linehaul here you’d see ALOT of Dallas. Freight mushrooms out of the Dallas terminal in every direction.
