Whats going on guys. I just obtained my cdl A license early december 2017. I am from massachusetts. I do have all my endorsements. ( hazmat, tanker, doubles & triples.) Tomorrow i have a interview with fedex freight and i was wondering if these guys hire drivers straight out of school? If so, would they make me complete some kind of course? Also how far back do they go on a MVR? I’m hearing only 5 years but just wanted to make sure.

My kid sister was working for FedEx at the airport loading planes. They had a job come open on their load boar, a driving job. I told her to apply for the job. She said that she doesn’t have a CDL. I told her to check the local community college and see how much their CDL course would be. 7 weeks and $1200. I gave her the $1200. When FedEx found out that she enrolled for the CDL course, they paid for the school (I got my $1200 back), gave her a $3000 sign on, handled all training, and the hotel she stayed at was the Embassy Suites. Her job consisted of driving from Amazon to the airport twice a day, $800/week, local drop and hook. Gravy. Graviest driving job I’ve ever heard of.

Fedex doesn't own any trucks. They contract with small fleet owners that "buy" the various routes. So you would be applying to the small fleet owner that owns the route you would like to run.

I see. I would still be under fedex guidelines though right? With their benefits and pay?

Fedex has relatively strict requirements for drivers the owners hire. The company name on your paycheck will be the fleet owner's LLC name. My neighbor drives team for a Fedex small fleet owner. He's out for 5 days at a time and has Sun-Mon off. I think they hired him right out of school, will have to ask him.
