Company I drove for all his trailers were made in the 90s he would keep fixing them and he would buy trailers from around his town.Trucks were old as well he would buy out of the truck paper.

Well I run into a lot of drivers who don't know much about abs systems. When you turn the key to the on position, the abs light on the trailer should turn on for a couple of seconds and turn off. If it doesn't it needs to be written up. Could be a defective brain in the abs. Could be the light went out. Could be you have a bad fuse. If I don't get that light the first thing I do is to check my fuses. That one goes out a lot. If it's not your fuse it's probably the trailer.
If you get an abs light on the dash that stays on something is wrong with the abs system.
If you get an abs light on the dash that comes on when the brakes are pressed it's not able to communicate with the brain. Might be a bad fuse. Might be a bad connection in the trailer or in the pigtail.captjimmy Thanks this. -
Nothing wrong with old iron...in fact, I prefer it. There's a real nice '53 L model Mack on truckpaper right now that I'm trying to convince someone to buy for me...birthday is right around the corner. Hell, I'd trade my '01 for it in a heartbeat...major reduction in power, but make up for it with style.Blackshack46 and captjimmy Thank this.

For the most part I didn't have any trouble till one day driving thru Muskogee the rear axle busted in half thank god the Pilot was only a half a block away.easytopleez33 Thanks this.

Glad it happened then rather then 5 miles later where the speed limit changes to 75.I looked in my right mirror and couldn't figure out why trailer was pulling to the right and truck remained straight.So I pull in pilot parked at the fuel island and there it stayed till road brkdown came chained up axle and I followed them to there shop 10 miles from Pilot.

Next day I had to rent a trailer go back to the shop they offloaded the product and delivered to Dallas.Cust wasn't happy the load was 2 days late but I blamed Jason my boss for not keeping up on his equipment till something happens.captjimmy Thanks this.
