Dang two hours?Only took me 45 minutes at most

 

right now I make over 15 dollars a hour, but we are suppose to get a raise sometime this year.

hoping that the raise will push me over 16 dollars a hour. maybe more........

one guy I work with makes $18 something a hour.

but about 60 miles away from where I'm at , guys are making 22 dollars a hour, and I think that has to do with the fact that they haul gasoline too, so they have a class A license.

and I've seen one oil company in my area at one time, not too long ago. that was advertising for drivers and the starting pay was , $9 a hour...... and that's probably why they couldn't keep a driver....

 

Get some good boots. Check them for dog ****. Get some dog treat biscuits too. And learn to fire-carry that 150 foot hose to the backyard after you backed your truck as far as you could to make it reach the tank.

yes, its true, underground tanks especially, spiders like to nest underneath the tank lid. don't leave the lot with out a can of bee spray..... especially in the summer, or at the start of the next season..

 

ok, so we have a couple different size trucks.

everything is figured in WC. your data plate on your truck will give you the specs of the tank.

depending on the year the tanker was built, the data plate should be on the drivers side.

your tanker should also have a annual inspection sticker on the tanker, and a sticker when it should be recertified, one sticker is good for one year, the other is good for 5 years.

so my trucks data plate states 3499 water content. I only fill my truck up to 80 percent. so I figure 3499x .80%. so my tanker will only carry 2799.2 gallons. I know when I have 20% I have 699.8 gallons left on my truck, and I never completely unload my truck because the PTO is cooled by the LP.

this past Saturday I worked a 8 hour shift, and unloaded my tanker almost completely, and reloaded and went back out, and unloaded another 200 gallons.

you can fill a bbq tank up from these trucks with the right adapter,

sometimes I will fill up a 100 pound tank

but mostly only 100 gallon 325 gallon 500 gallon and 1000 gallon tanks. mostly 100 gallon or 325 gallon. there are a few people that have just 50 gallon tanks.

the further I get out in the boonies, the bigger the tanks get. the hard to reach places usually have the whoppers.

if a customer ever prepays for a certain amount of gallons you can always get your calculator and do the percent left in the tank, and then figure how many gallons they paid for, to be sure you don't overfill the tank. our dispatcher usually figures that out with the customer, but I always check just to be safe.

I have a photo of my truck somewhere in one of my threads, if I can find it on my computer I will upload it here, my truck looks like yours, just not as shiny. haha.

all tanks will have a data plate, or the information will be stamped on the collar of the tank, on a 100 pound tanks, the information will be stamped on the collar of the tank also. generally a 100 pound tank will only hold 24.0 gallons.

where I work it was required to take a lp handling and bobtail tanker driving safety class. I wouldn't doubt if you will be required to take those classes as well,

I can unload a whole truck if I'm in the right area, and customer demand is high, other days I might unload 10%-20% off of my truck, I try to unload as much as I can, it really just depends. I'd say I usually unload %40. if customer demand is high and everyone uses 100 gallons, you could unload a truck with 25 customers, a couple of days ago, I almost unloaded a whole truck with only 30 customers delivered to.

if you had 4 customers who had 1000 gallon tanks and they were all empty, you could unload a whole truck with just those 4 customers.

I like unloading into the bigger tanks better, because its more weight off the truck, and the less LP that's on the truck, it seems like the truck travels faster, it gets lighter, and handles better. its a slow turd fully loaded.

 

I've heard stories before, from other drivers, that they had to send two trucks at a time, to a LP farm, as you call it, and it still wasn't enough to fill up the LP farms tanks. they would have to send multiple trucks, and go back, a all day bonanza.

 

Typically bulk farm tanks are filled by transports. I couldn't make out bobtails trying to fill a industrial size bulk tank.
