A little worse than than even. If the milk (or any other ag guys, or supply to farms) never leave the 150 radius, they can work 24/7 during planting and harvesting season.
Unfortunately this is not going away anytime soon. This is not FMCSA getting a wild hair up their backside. This was specifically required by law from congress (as the title says, legislation titles "MAP-21"). To go away, it will take another law...

Pretty sure handling it into that box is going to look packaged to any DOT.
-
They write laws daily, and there is another highway bill coming down after the numbnuts in DC get done with their immigrant dog and pony show.
I get letting a farmer move his stuff in his truck. Everything else IMO should be just like anyone else. -
While true, remember it took about 5 years for MAP-21 to get this far....
It was passed in 2012. had to go through a couple rounds of court battles, then an actual date set, etc...
So removing a provision will likely be a 5 year process....
Of course I could be just being pessimistic.06driver Thanks this. -
If thats your return trip, i cant see the milk being unpackaged. Lol.
-
Yes that' return...milk wouldn't qualify...it is in gallon jugs.. but the produce is bulk.. only packaged to get it to distributer..they package the produce..for retail..Blackshack46 Thanks this.

For the record, HOS exempt ag. trucks have considerably better crash statistics than OTR HOS compliant trucks
-
If true, I wonder how long that will last once local ag companies realize they are HOS exempt and can push drivers to work 24/7. Not to mention what that will do to making the wages fall drastically for those drivers.Grouch Thanks this.

the exemption is not new. We've used it for drcades.
