According to the WSJ all but the most critical shipments will soon be cut do to the truck driver shortage.
But rates aren't sky rocketing yet. Could the WSJ be wrong? Say it isn't so.

My shipments are critical to my customers, so yes, they are getting done.

So pay the trucking to a warehouse. Pay to warehouse it. Then pay to ship it to the end user. People like to pay the same or less but today you pay more. We can only kick the can down the road so far.

Fake News strikes again!

Define critical...is toilet paper critical? If you're sitting in a warehouse full of it...probably not. If you're sitting on the toilet with none on the roller, it suddenly becomes quite critical. Everything is going to have to be delivered at some point, people will just have to pay more to get it there is all.

Don't be too quick to write this off as fake news, but rather as the opening Salvo to lower our wages again. We saw this before. First the news stories about the "driver shortage" will start appearing in the media. Then the political arseholes will start crowing about transportation costs and how it is hurting the poor, the elderly and of course, the children. Then they will pass a law allowing temporarily permanent truck drivers to be imported from some other part of the world. Big carriers will be given big grants to train drivers, yet again, rates will fall, driver wages will stagnate, again, and all will be well until the next time we start making money. It's been the same old song and dance for as long as I can remember.Last edited: Jan 25, 2018

Yep. The propaganda arm of the ATA is back on.
-
I don't see that happening while Trump is president. Any other politician you can name will be happy to do whatever their lobbyist bids them to do.jbatmick Thanks this.

Nope.....the ATA who are constantly crowing about their dedication to safety will push to lower the age of interstate CLD holders. Watch
