Personally I hate them for all the reasons others do but, I and others have learned to work with them. I hate to say it but they are here to stay.jaielv Thanks this. -
Also, if you are in the sleeper berth, you have to log sleeper berth.
Also, you must change duty status as soon as it happens, not 10 hours later.
Sure, all those on the last quote are minor points, but it's still not following the law, i.e. cheating.Bank_Lbr and Pedigreed Bulldog Thank this. -
If your stopping to check into a guard shack, no. But if they tell you to park and we will get to you in a hour, then yes.
If I’m doing a pump off or have to stay at the rack and monitor a load , yes I stay on duty(I also get paid for it).
But if I pull into a rest area or some place to eat, you better believe I go off duty!kemosabi49 and ZVar Thank this. -
Even if you log out the gps in the qualcomm is still recording your trucks movements. When the DOT audits you they will want an explanation for those movements and then you will be cited for falcifying a federal document.
Every company i have driven for prohibits logging out of the qc unless you are parked at a terminal and have gone home.
Rule of thumb...
Off duty time when you are not in the truck as in taking a shower or eating.
If you are in your truck and parked then that is sleeper time.Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -
Ours do not record unless the truck moves more than 2/10ths of a mile and over 7mph.
And no, just because your sitting in your truck that’s not sleeper time. If you want to use that then fine use it. I never do. As far as I’m concerned that’s for team drivers. -
Actually, there is an exception for "short moves in the parking lot". This is a quote from an ELD manufacturer:
When To Use Personal Conveyance Time
Personal Conveyance is Off Duty time when the driver uses the vehicle exclusively for personal use — such as driving home or going to a restaurant after a shift. According to the Personal Conveyance rule, work-related activities must not take place while operating the vehicle for personal use. This means drivers can’t go to the mechanic, move to pick up their next load, or bring the truck back into a terminal under Personal Conveyance time.
If you’re driving a box truck, the back must be completely empty. For tractor trailers, you must not pull the trailer, even if it’s empty. Furthermore, the destination of a Personal Conveyance move must solely be for personal reasons, such as driving to a hotel.
When To Use Yard Move Time
While Personal Conveyance is Off Duty driving, Yard Moves are On Duty driving. Yard Moves occur when the vehicle is moved around the yard or terminal. Even though Yard Moves take place On Duty, they don’t add to your Driving time. However, if you use a Yard Move mid rest-period, it will interrupt Off Duty time.
How Much Can Drivers Use Personal Conveyance and Yard Moves?
There are no time or distance limitations with these special driving categories. However, we recommend drivers use caution. An enforcement officer may determine that the amount of time used or distance covered for Personal Conveyance or Yard Moves is unreasonable, which could result in a violation.
How To Keep Driving Time Off Your ELD Logbook
We’ve made it extremely simple to keep Driving time off your logbook with the KeepTruckin ELD — it just takes one tap. To enable Personal Conveyance or Yard Moves, just select a checkbox when you enter your duty status:Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -
The first on is fine to use PC, as long as you are not dispatched. i.e. going to the terminal to drop the truck off to go home...
The second is just wrong. The only current guidance is "unladen". The new guidance will specify even a laden truck is ok, as long as it's not doing anything for work.[/QUOTE]farmboy73 Thanks this. -
