Hi, I have a 1994 Pete with a fully mechanical 3406B engine with a prefix of 7FB. I realize that the truck is exempt from the ELD mandate, however I want to install this keep trucking ELD because it is a company requirement. I wanted to know if anyone kbhnew what wire should go were. I figured out the red wire in the ELD cable is hot and the black is ground. I still have a blue and yellow which are twisted together, and a green and brown which are also twisted together. So far with the red and black wires wired in the box comes on. It can see my location on my phone, but will not automatically put me in drive when I break 5 mph. I figure some of those other wires need to be wired in, but to what? Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome! I'm not sure what the other color wires represent. Thanks ahead of time.

Unless your truck had an electronic speed sensor (usually loacted on the back of the transmission) you probably won't get it to automatically put you on the drive line... And even if it does have an electronic sensor I wouldn't even begin to know how to properly wire it in.
1SlowPoker1 Thanks this. -
Yes, it has an electronic speed sensor on the back of the trans. It's a 13 double over by the way. Funny you mention that because the other day my speedometer started jumping around so I got under the truck and noticed a loose wire connection from the back of the trans. But a new connector on there and heat shrank it. Problem fixed. I wounded if I could splice into that with one of those other wires?

Probably so, but as how to exactly go about it I'm not sure. It would all depend on how the eld is programmed I imagine.

The mechanical engine is probably a good reason for your truck being exempt. KT doesn't show any info for connecting to mechanical engines(you might call them.) Maybe the best you can do, reasonably, is to get an AOBRD.

As far as we know, the VDO RoadLog is the only ELD on the market that will work with your truck. The smart phone systems in the market do not have any way of accepting or accommodating alternate inputs, they only work with electronic engines.

VDO RoadLog requires a data port to "plug" into. At least according to the info. I uncovered.
