I believe that when youre driving someone elses truck, everything should work, so the bunk heater not working is a problem. But let's be honest, if it's above 20°, a warm sleeping bag would prevent the guy from dying. The fuel is not going to gel. Plenty of guys who pay for the fuel shut it off in the 20s.

@king v. Did you try what @lilillill suggested here? That is the same switch that shows the computer that your clutch is depressed and stops you cruise control. Seems like it would be the thing to do to keep idling.

You know if you lock the clutch pedal down running, you will be awoken in the morning to the squealing of a burned out throw out bearing.
And bunk heat law, lol. I've had new trucks back in the day without heat or air in the bunk new.

Not if he just pushes it down enough to take up the free play, disengaging the switch.

I know. Getting out of bed to a cold truck is daunting. I just don't like idling my truck unless I have to.

That I will sleep in a truck in the 20s should not be taken that I think OP needs to. I just think that seeing as he's leaving his carrier, and he needs practical advice of how to stay warm in warm cold weather until he turns the truck in, a sleeping bag IS the most practical answer.

They can make those newer rucks shut down if it has idles for 5 min and the usual tricks won't work. Once, I was trying to turn out onto a road in rush hour. Sitting there with my foot on the brake, the clutch in, and it was in gear. 5 minutes rolled around and the truck shut off.

Bean counters don't have to deal with the garbage they cook up.

I takes very little to engage the bearing,if he's still in the freeplay, probably ok,but do you want to chance it,for an expensive repair? Most of the crowd here is telling him to block it,tie it down, etc.

Suprised it took that long for someone to bring that up. OTOH if they can't fix the heat, screw 'em lol.
