Yes you did! The market is flooded with new CDL holders as they are looking into other fields to get in to as well. Things are bad in every occupation!

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Even if you were to get your own truck/authority/own your own business it would be just as if not MORE difficult to find work. The majority of O/O are very experienced and have been around the "block" more than once. You got to know the ins/outs of trucking as a whole before you plunge into some SERIOUS debt. Not to mention getting a good relationship with a broker, unless you are able, as a rookie o/o, to sign on with a stable company as an independant. They too look at your work history as a pre-employment indicator.
BTW, have you tried McElroy Trucking. They have a NC terminal (busiest in the company out of 5) and haul from TAMKO in Frederick,MD. I have also seen them around Wash D.C. and surrounding area. They do take students/rookies but are strict with your driving history. That 1 accident you state might be the reason why you haven't been hired. Is it still on your driving history? Run it yourself, and if you come back clean DO NOT STATE IT on your app. -
Maryland as far as I know does not record accidents on your mvrd record. The accident wasn't in a cmv and is over 2 years old

My one accident in 2003 showed up on the DAC! It was in a small carge van when I was delivering auto parts in NY....

Just got a call from Watkins& Shepard and can go 1/5/09 to their Sayerville,NJ terminal for 4 weeks of training since I have my CDL but it's $4,000.00! Reimbersed at $100.00 a month for 36 months. So now I need to decide if I can afford to lose the money if I should leave them or stick it out for 3 years! BOY-O-BOY. So far my only somewhat offer.....
-
Anyone have info on them? On the site here I only found Watkins which is a different company that is now owned by FedEx. I was offered a job but need $4,000.00 to re-train in NJ.
Thanking you in advance,
