in all reality, no one can ever like a log book. that's why my company issues "colored" marker pens for our and the DOT's entertainment.

in my particular situation, log book keeping is simple as i am home daily, and pretty much don't go over 50-55 hours per week.

I think you have the clearer of the Ideas, We still can run like under the old rules problem being if drivers use the 11 hours the are allowed now to drive and pretrip they will run out of hours forceing them to take the 34 hours off. If a driver runs 8.5 per day that is only 68 hours. If instead of taking the .50 for PTI daily and use a .25 hr PTI FUELING at the same time PTI is done then there is a 2 hour saving making it a 66 hr drive wk enableing the driver to drive 8.25 hrs a day and will pick up 8.25 on the ninth day giving a total hrs available of 10.5 each day driving the 8.25 +.25 PTI Giving a driver in a 55 mph State 437 miles to log per day
    65 mph ST 519 miles

No need to apologize, You wern't all that wrong. All these technicalities are hard to keep up with.

NannyB: The magic number is 8.75 hours per day. If you log exactly 8.75 hours per day you always have 8.75 hours available for the next day.
Check out my other thread about managing the 70 hour rule:

The bold part was very true prior to 10-1-05, but is no longer true. If you are over your 70 hour you do not have to wait until you are equal or below your 70 hour. You simply take 34 hours off and you are reset to zero. This was changed on 10-1-05, AND I AM SO SO GLAD IT WAS!

He is very accurate on everything else and explained it very well!

The old way still applies to the 70 hour they just gave the option to zero out your recap by taking 34 hours off! If you no longer need 7 days off to zero out!

I know this was a while back, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows the updates!

Your mentor will show you how to fill out the logs with the 8.75, every day, and tell you to drive for 14, while he takes a nap.

I have a power point (which you can view it normal, but might not work as well on explaining) on the 70 hour and the restart. I won't say it is the best in the world, but it might help you out. I am not sure if you have seen it or not. I need an e-mail address to send it to you, send me a pm and I would be happy to share it with you.

I hope I did not give you a headache
