I'll be curious to see if the 2.02 average per mile is something he can continue to see. I haven't been seeing rates that good on longer hauls since fuel started dropping 6 weeks ago. There are some good loads out there, but they're getting tougher and tougher to find unless you just ain't picky about where you go or when you get back.

I looked into this program, absolutely no Florida trucks accepted, even when I assured them I wasn't looking for home time and would stay out 3 - 4 months... Load boards are DEAD and looking for a place to lease to survive, any suggestions?

Got a relative that lives in another state? Perhaps you could "move".... even if it's just a paper move, or maybe just a different company. If you know anything about cattle, you may be able to find something around Okeechobee.

Does liking steak qualify as knowing about cattle??? I just ate a really tasty strip steak. Used to eat ribeyes, but that was before I got my new truck :biggrin_25519:

Discovered another problem, less than 1 year of recent experience is preventing me from getting insurance or leasing to any decent company. Always amazed that 10 years of trucking is worthless if it isn't in the last 3 years. It sure is expensive and difficult to get back into a business with such a small potential upside and a big potential downside! :biggrin_2554: Anyone have any input on where I can get insurance or lease on to?

Progressive, if they write in Florida..... expect them to be high.

OOIDA website should give you some more insurance options, but you'll have to look to see as I don't remember them exactly.

The recent experience hurdle is going to be a nutcracker. You might look at CRST's flatbed div. out of Birmingham or maybe Boyd Brothers. It wouldn't be a great gig by any stretch, but it might just let you survive to get past the recent experience hurdle..... hope it helps.

MCT does run some Florida and they are self insured so I'm sure there insurance would cover you. may want to look into that. Rates could be better but they keep ya running fairly good and are non forced dispatch. I don't have too many complaints about them and that's saying something for me! lol

Just got a quote from Progressive for standard insurance required and physical damage of $45,000 value - $15,886... and this has a 500 mile radius limit! :biggrin_2555: Please understand that I have no violations or accidents in longer than I can remember. Can't blame anyone but myself for not verifying the insurance availability before I bought the truck. But it's a mess. I called a bunch of companies and the shortest experience required is 3 months by GUESS WHO? - JB Hunt. I think MCT told me 6 months. Looks like I may be hiring a driver or maybe a team partner that qualifies the both of us with a decent outfit.
