I'd love to but in order to be 100 percent legal for IRP one has to actually have a real staffed business location or be a resident. Personally, the cheapest way for IRP is using your home address. I'm hung up on the authority question though. No way am I using my home address for that. Anyone can check Saferweb and get that information since it's public. I would like to figure out something that works for both DOT and IRP. So far, all I can think of is renting a room from someone and keeping my papers there.

Just look it up seem like an great option for small business that dont want to rent an real office space. Definitely an route i would take if i didnt want to use my home address or rent an office space.

I just doubled checked all my stuff from 2016 operating authority started. Ifta, irp, letter of authority, boc3, irp and registration, and all business info have my local Po box as main address. Like I said I even had my cdl changed 2 that same Po box. Went through audit without a question in the world about it. Or having someone besides myself staffed and etc. read things about it. But was never mentioned or asked.

I'm seriously considering it as well. This will most likely work well for DOT but it won't cut for IRP. When you first get your plates they ask for proof of physical address for personal or business and all the sources have to show the same physical address with each other. I'm thinking once the base IRP is already established one could simply update the address to the virtual one. Hopefully that would work.

You're getting very lucky then my friend. I tried in November and Maryland gave me a big 'ole NO on my using my local PO box. They literally checked and investigated it. I didn't freely tell them it was a PO box. I had to leave and get creative for the next trip in to their office. Even to renew your CDL they want proof of residency now thanks to the Patriot Act.

I got around that because I changed my id, and on all the proofing documents it had the Po box listed as well. Might have had physical in a small corner on the utility bill or whatever. Can’t remember exactly. Was a small debate and the older in charge lady accepted my 3-4 items. Don’t really remember exact debate

All I see is with regards to IRP is no po boxes. A true virtual office should qualify since you technically have access to an office space when you need one, that set's it aside from your typically ups store box or P.O. box. The place I'm using is straight up there address, no random number or box number at the end and you're listed as a tenant. Plus there is someone there during normal business hours that can greet anyone for your company and accept all documents on your behalf versus the ups store or P.O. box .
