934k and had to open her up. #5 exhaust springs had metal shaving in the inner spring. So had them pull the head and have it rebuild. Got the bad news that the head had cracks inbetween the valves. So it was junk. Tec of Fontana had a reman head for 6k out the door. 1k of that was core charge..
So my question what caused the crack? @nasriza or anyone else

How about just plain old metal fatigue.
Is the horse power at a stock setting or do you have a tune in it? -
At first I thought the thread title was "Crack Head" and was going to be another mega company driver rant
Bakerman Thanks this. -

New Volvo D13 Cylinder Head | eBay
Could've saved $2500. -
More often than not, you'll see small cracks between valve seats on cylinder heads. Many are just surface cracks, and aren't a reason to replace the cylinder head.
I can't even see where the cracks are in the photos.Hulld Thanks this. -
I would take it to a head shop in Fontana and have them check it out. I don't see any cracks in the head at all. It actually looks pretty clean.

I know all cats crack like that. Very very common . As long as the crack don't go into a water jacket usualy not an issue.
windsmith Thanks this. -
Thx good price,I paid more for a DPF filter: would buy one to keep it spare. Would this head fit for a 2010? Is the D13 same regardless of year /emission system?
I would have a question, found a 2012 D13 motor with 200k only for 6 grands only. Can i instal it in a 2010 truck without upgrading to SCR ,swap the ecm? But has some traces of violence ,came off a truck with frontal damage, the fan housing is bent a bit.
