Lol yea.... he bought a nice Pete with the ISX to get away from things like the 475 twin turbo Big Cam he use to own. Blowing black again and no local shops can get him in till the weekend to my understanding. He spoke of finding a lowboy and haul it to Ohio somewhere, said they were better equipped than our local Pete dealer. Ever notice there is no such thing as mechanics anymore? Really there isn't, just computer techs.

Indeed. That's actually what our main mechanic has been saying for the past couple years. Guys with clean hands and soft skin plugging into the computer port on a truck, telling you it's going to be $15,000 to fix.OLDSKOOLERnWV said: ↑Lol yea.... he bought a nice Pete with the ISX to get away from things like the 475 twin turbo Big Cam he use to own. Nobody knows how to get their hands dirty anymore. I'm glad we have a mechanic like him at the company, because he's been taught right despite his youth (he's the same age as me). He would rather spend his days rebuilding CATs than going through computer reports and changing sensors... and I don't blame him. He gets the fun work while everyone else in the shop gets the monotonous stuff.Crusader66, cke, snowman_w900 and 7 others Thank this. -
Did a little body modifying today on starcar. Dont like the key hole latch on tool compartment doors so I installed these latches.

Got any pics of yours all mounted? I looked em up but it’s hard to tell the size from the pics I found.Click to expand...peterbilt_2005, 4mer trucker, Crusader66 and 9 others Thank this.

Are you putting bubbles into your fuel tank? What about your pick up tubes in the tank?ShooterK2 said: ↑Alright, what you just described is exactly what my truck does. It has done it the entire two years I’ve had it, despite 2 new sets of injectors, new heads, turbo, fuel pump, all new lines (suction AND return), and a complete inframe.
Like you, I think it’s air in the fuel because you can count on it doing it when it’s cold and not when warm. That’s why I’m contemplating some kind of electric lift pump like the one @wore out put on his.Click to expand...4mer trucker, Crusader66, cke and 7 others Thank this. -
Mine are welded in. And my caps are all the way at the back of the tanks. Makes it impossible to see the return line in there. But I know it looks cloudy a lot of the time.Logan76 said: ↑Are you putting bubbles into your fuel tank? What about your pick up tubes in the tank?Click to expand...
Gonna try the electric pump idea when I get a chance. I’ve got a small one to try and see if it makes any difference. If it does I’ll probably step up to something like wore out has.Crusader66, cke, snowman_w900 and 5 others Thank this. -
Remember @ShooterK2 , alot of those electric pumps push better than they pull. If you do use one, I'd mount it as close to the tank as you can. That's just my opinion.ShooterK2 said: ↑Mine are welded in. And my caps are all the way at the back of the tanks. Makes it impossible to see the return line in there. Oh, and 1 other thing. When using a electric fuel pump on an N14, the N14 uses a 1-1/4" gear drive fuel pump.
If you get an electric pusher pump, you have to make sure you get one that flows enough not to restrict the suction of the 1-1/4" gear drive pump. The gear drive pumps move alot of fuel, especially the 1-1/4"Crusader66, cke, wore out and 6 others Thank this.
