Thanks, and cool to see another local on here. Yeah I went to Smith & Solomon in Cherry Hill I was on the weekend class. I actually graduated in September, I had other plans for work but they fell thru, hence why I am late in signing up for TMC. I might actually go back to school the next 2 weekends to do some practicing backing up and such.
And no thanks on the bus, another reason for not taking it is I think that long of a trip might be wearing and tiresome, I want to be fresh when I get there not road weary after 24+ hours.
Are you going to Des Moines or Columbia location? My recruiter gave me a choice so I chose Des Moines , he said it be colder there than Columbia but I said no big deal with weather for me being from Jersey and that most of my jobs involved working outdoors in all kind of weather. Rawlco on here also gave me the idea to pick Des Moines as its the main headquarters and a nicer hotel too.

Well it looks like I won't be joining u. Just talked to my recruiter & they denied my application. Wouldn't tell me why either. Guess I'll have to write a letter to HR to find out why. Good luck with your orientation and your career with TMC.

sorry to hear that big dd it must be points or crimal you must have some idea
-
Sorry to hear that, and that sucks they won't tell you why., is there any reason you can think of? Smith & Solomon said before that TMC was hard to get into. I waited 3 weeks before I finally got word. Well I'll find out in 2 weeks whether I'll have a career with TMC, I hope so and will try my best.
Good luck to you too in whatever you chose. Maybe you can give TMC another try if for whatever reason they denied you can be fixed. Keep coming to this site too, lots of good people and information. -
Given the way that interest in TMC has been going on this forum they must be swamped with applications. I don't think it is possible to accept them all.

My recruiter said they were getting tons of calls. I was always curious if they did really have that many openings, I know TMC has around 2800 drivers, is there really that much turn over are they really that short? I know they weed out a lot during 2 week orientation but still surprised with the slow down of the economy and trucking they still be hiring. I am lucky I guess to get the chance. I really should have upgraded my license to a "A" years ago.
Also I talked to the people at my truck driving school and they said there a lot more people there than there was in summer. -
Good luck. I'm sure you'll do fine. And honestly I don't know why they said no. No criminal record. Only thing I can think of is I'm with another company right now but not very happy. Been there 2 months and just completed my training. That may be the reason. I will find out. Gonna write the letter and ask HR tomorrow.

They can afford to be very selective right now. Try again at the six month mark and the year mark. Good luck.

I don't agree, but they never tell you why you are not accepted.
