A spread axle isn't a tandem axle, that's why they have two different names. So no, that doesn't mention spread, it specifically states tandem, therefore it only applies to tandem axles.

Pulled over on interstate or off interstate...?
If you're heavy and the load originated in sc and was going to Florida for example...you could stay off interstates in Georgia and run your tandems forward to the maximum length, Georgia allows 40680 on tandems unless on interstate it says 34000. Book says sc allows 39600 off interstate and 35200 on interstate. Once you hit Florida they allow 44000 everywhere. Point is...know the laws and use them to your advantage.... driving with the tandems way back is a blatantly obvious violation. Easy, quick $100 for the state. And I bet he made you fix it too...king v Thanks this. -
Check pages 9 and 10 in the permit reference guide for an explanation and state by state restrictions.

Freshly trained officer needs to prove that he is doing his job. Next time take pictures you might be able to beat it in court.king v Thanks this.

Not sure if pictures would help unless there's some way to prove they were actually picturing the trailer configuration at the time of the bust. Putting the officer in the picture would work along with a way to prove the configuration was OK, but the officer might not hold still and smile for the shoot.

They would not help, just prolonging the pain, You can not blame the cop for your mistake.

Then maybe you should've taken a nap and rolled when you were more alert to what was going on with the load.Blackshack46, king v, ZVar and 1 other person Thank this.

How? If he had more than the allowable distance between his kingpin and trailer axles, he's not going to beat it. The way I read the OP, he had 45' and is only allowed 41'...which would be the "45/41" that was noted.Blackshack46 and king v Thank this.
