So on Friday I bounced to the house bobtail, Monday morning I bounced over to Columbus to pick up a preloaded trailer for our customer and then take it to Brighton Michigan and drop it, then bounce home and wait out today for a new assignment. I'm cool with that. 10am, I'm told im getting assigned a load of heads going to Houston, I'm thinking sweet, I can chill in Houston for the weekend. 11am, Houston load is pushed till tomorrow. Even better I think. 1115, Houston load is cancelled, someone damaged all 4 heads, hang tight for a few. 1145, I'm gonna need you to bobtail up here (Youngstown) and rescue this load, the guy on it took a 13 hour break last night and can't make the 8am crane appt in bath ny Wednesday morning, but don't leave till 1pm,I want to time it right that you're both getting here about the same time, he says to call him before I roll out. 1pm I call and he says that the driver should be getting there around 5pm. Fast forward to 5pm as I'm rolling into the yard, the driver isn't there. He Was In Highland Park Illinois at 1pm, as I pull in he's still 68 miles away. I'm looking at the clock thinking at this point I can make it no problem, but im gonna be dog ### tired when I get there at around 1130pm. The driver finally pulls in the yard at 630pm. He Drops I hook and book, sure enough I pull ion at my reciever at 1138. I'm beat, been up since 6am at the house.

2 lessons I learned from this
    1. It's not always best to be known as the "guy who they know can get it done"
    2. I86 from Pennsylvania to i390 is very boring and tiresome to drive at night

    G'night guys

Out playing in the snow this morning. Apparently plowing the lot was an option this morning ;) 20180207_102505_HDR.jpg

Places to stop are far and few between, few mom and pop places, but no mega stops from 86in pa till you get to bath.

There isn’t much more boring and tiresome than the lower 40 or so miles of the Jersey Turnpike.

    cke Thanks this.

Yea, I’ll probably hit the smaller places. I’m at one now in Fayette Ohio. Tiny place, but they got plenty of parking space and a restaurant. I noticed most of the mega stops are full of dry van drivers. Best stay clear!

    Gunner75 and cke Thank this.

Yeah but its only 40 miles, that stretch of 86 is close to 100 miles of nothing

86 was exciting a few weeks back when some Van truck decided to pow thru the highway crew truck as they were working. Don’t know if anyone was hurt but it looked awful.
