No tricks. I leased a used truck with 320k on the clock for 2 years. At the end of the lease, I owed roughly $25k. The options were, keep leaseing, buy it outright, or get a new truck. I had $12k in my maintenance account and money in the bank. So, I wrote them a check, and they sent me the title. The only hiccup was that they were real funny about the money. ....had to be certified and on a certain day, and on and on. The office folks tend to make things harder than they need to be, but whatever.

BUT, you need to know that they don't report any of this to the credit bureaus. So, when you go to buy another truck, it looks like you've never done it before and it makes a HUGE difference......kinda almost makes you have to go back to them if you want a new truck. That said, if you keep all your paperwork and can prove that you successfully completed the lease, you'll be fine. I just thought it was kinda low for them to do that......they try to make it so they're the only one you can buy a truck from. Which is one of the top 10 reasons why I'm leaving. Just halfassed low life stuff like that.

This is exactly what they did with me back when I started 6 years ago. They had me stay in a hotel and I ran with a local guy in Phoenix for a week. He was one heck of a trainer, and I felt pretty lucky to have had him after the horror stories, too.

Gentlemen, I am planning on resigning w/notice as a co. driver very soon. How did it go for you guys? I mean, I don't want to be left stranded out of state or worse.

    was on dedicated side.
let them know up front I was looking. Set up tbe new job first, informing I was giving sni 2 weeks and that I wanted to work it. but if sni didnt could I start sooner. they agreed.
told dbl/account manager, requesting 2 weeks and that I hoped to work it. he agreed to allow it. in fact countered with a (nonstarter) position that paid more from another location.

I had a good relationship with my office. my result was what I planned.

fundamental question, how much or how far do you trust your dbl or oc manager? I think thats deciding factor.

in any case, whatever you decide, plan as a back up for worst case......
