Just wondering why it is people don’t use their hazard lights doing 20 miles an hour uphill. I see this every day continuously. My rule of thumb is anything under 50 on the highway’s going through the mountains I got my hazards on. And almost 90% of the time it’s owner operators . Anyone else notice this? Is there something I’m missing? Lol

That bothers me also.. about as much as the driver who is too lazy or ignorant to signal their lane change.

I generally run the 4 ways at 20. It's not too often that I am having the rig down on it's hands and knees at 20 upgrade. But obviously downgrade, most certainly.

There are however some scary grades that have you at less than walking pace (Around 24% or so give or take a little) in which all the lights in the world wont prevent a stupid from ramming your trailer.

Owner Operators fly according to their imagined worlds. If they are good, they will do what is necessary. Otherwise stay out of their way as best you can.

Many states you aren't supposed to do so. Driving slowly, up a hill, in the slow truck lane, isn't a hazardous situation that needs attention brought to it. It's the norm.

That drives me nuts! Welcome to today's society where people have zero consideration for anyone but themselves.

You get into them stoner states those drivers aim for them lights thinking they pretty and the drinking ones are not much better. It depends on whats going on, if coming up to a slow down I may put the flashers on until I see the ones flying up behind in control, then they get turned off, at night I have no pleasure in getting behind someone with the flashers on.

Instead of rule of thumb, why don’t you post the facts. Post which states required what you just said. Is it federal law or state law ? And BTW, yes !!!! I’m an owner operator since 1984 and been driving since 1979. And just to fill you in..... it all depends on the the individual......,his experience, and common sense...... if he/she should be behind the wheel. You can’t fixed stupid.

20 MPH under the limit and I turn them on. been doing that for over 30 yrs.
was a law somewhere that was required as that put you in category as a road hazard. think might have NYS, yrs ago.
I also always run with headlights when road is wet. heck I leave them on all the time now.

I turn 4 ways on at 45 or lower which is min speed in most states. And when merging on to highway from ramp as often as I remember.
