The Practical mileage pay is much better and a lot closer to the actual miles you drive. I have never set at this company waiting for a load. 99% of the time you are going to be pre-planned well before you deliver.

Left the house Monday to deliver in Durham North Carolina. I got a load out of Garysburg North Carolina to Detroit Michigan. Another load from Toledo Ohio to St. Paul Minnesota. Will not get to Saint Paul until around noon Friday but I am already pre-planned from Minneapolis to Savannah Georgia. These are the typical runs for me. No sitting and waiting on loads. I have heard some drivers at truck stops with other companies that say they have waited on loads for 2 days. That's not the case here. At least it hasn't been for anyone I know of in the year I've been here.

Hey Smurf just want to say "thanks" for all your info in this thread. I'm coming over to SAV next week! Sounds like a decent place to work !

Well don't forget to tell Megan I sent you! Just tell her Mike in truck 3201. We're always joking with each other. She'll most likely start laughing when you tell her that.

Any other tips to be needed before going in? I'm getting in on Monday night instead of Tuesday.

One of the guys on this thread finished orientation today. I walked in the office and she said I believe you know this fella. He said you must be Smurf 316.....lol You'll most likely be the only one in orientation. They'll put you in a pretty nice room at the hotel which is about 3 miles from the terminal. Has a flat screen TV a fridge and a microwave. Lots of restaurants within walking distance but of course you will have the company van anyway. There's also a bar across the parking lot from the hotel if you want to go get bombed. Still have someone pick you up from the airport. We don't do Greyhound. They'll send you to two different places one for your drug test and another for your Physical Agility Test. Other than that pretty standard stuff just 2 and 1/2 boring days of watching video and learning how they do things. You'll take a road test on your first day probably. It's a good place to work. They're pretty nice people. Very laid-back. I joke with them a lot. They're not really uptight with a big corporate atmosphere. I wish you luck. I think you'll like it. When you take your road test be mindful of the speed limit because they will most likely take you through a school zone to see if you pay attention. Keep that in mind when you get in the truck.
