Yes there is a way to disable the on guard system pretty easy. Hi my name is Lee. I have Ben driving for about 18yrs. And I drive a Freightliner Cascadia 2015 with the same system. I'm pretty educated about these new technology in the big trucks. And I know how to override these problems. For the on guard it's pretty simple. All you have to do is shut your truck off and wait about half minute. and hold in the up and down arrows on the on guard. Turn your key to accessories before starting the truck. Wait for the gauges to do their thing. And start the truck then let off the arrows on the on guard. the on guard screen will stay black. And that shuts off your radar to. But there is one thing you have to do after that. Once you go down the road you have to shut off and on the cruise control three times. Then you hit set the cruise control will start at 60 miles per hour. And then you have to bump up your speed where you want to set at. However if you keep the truck running after you park you do not have redo the process. Only if you shut the truck off you have to do the process over again. And that's all it takes. Hope you the best and be safe. Lee

It is fortunate I have never seen this type of so called safety device on a tractor. Or have a computer slam on anything in way of braking. I made my living in winters in the mountains almost exclusively where possible and necessary. One of the things that I did well is absolute mastery of the 18 wheeler, that is why I am trusted with the #### thing and it's load, it will get there safe, damage free and without problems or accidents.

I would have quit trucking were I be unable to find a company that ran older iron without this electronic crap.

Now I have to examine various tractors on the highway and see which ones are equipped and give them a mile before moving back over where I run a car somewhere... so that they can have some kind of peace. I'll do what I can on my end.

Im pretty sure my position is not welcome at many companys who cling to this technology for whatever reason and that is fine by me. I stand by what I believed in all my life and will not have a computer place the truck into danger on ice just because someone is in a hurry with a car. Ive already seen a thousand cars go off the road all by themselves because they were too fast on ice. All the tech in the world in them things wont protect them from themselves.

i know what you mean. this Wing SH==T aligns and then proceeds to go to radar not aligned and later this ! point comes up and then the beeping start..and it continues for who knows how long. I CAN TELL YOU HOW LONG....FORF==KING EVER,EVEN WHILE IDLEING. TURN THE KEY OFF AND ON 100=500 TIMES AND IT MIGHT WORK ,BUT DONT GET YOUR WOOD UP .IT DRIVES ME NUTS,KEEPS ME ANGRY WHERE SOMETHING SMALL CAN SET ME OFF!!!!! A BURRITO WRAPPER OR FOIL OVER THE EYE IN YOUR BUMPER...AND YES I HAVE CLEANED THE BLACK COVER INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. 3 WEEKS DOWNTIME TO GO TO CRAP DEALER . THESE TRUCKS WILL NEVER BE AUTOMATED WITH THIS KIND OF TECH INFERIORITY. YOU ENGINEERS ARE STUPID!!!!

I like the fact that they say they hire the best drivers , then they add all kinds of irritating bull #### cause they don't think you can drive , my company has this on my new Pete , sad when the only thing you like about a brand new truck is the sleeper , the auto shift sucks and sucks more pulling a stainless trailer

just a little bit of snow or heavy rain will make mine do it's "i give up sound" BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP and then it shuts off. no more active cruise, no more automatic following distance, no more beeps either. I haven't tried it yet but i was thinking about a piece of aluminum can behind some black duck tape would do the same thing, and you couln't even notice from looking at it, but the automatic cruise is too valuable to loose. I wish they'd get on with it and make them steer themselves too.

If it goes off 200 feet away when the car is pulling away quickly sounds like it's not properly aligned.......

I took mine to a shop in St Louis. They disabled it, though it still beeps on occasion. Every once in awhile it will throw a check engine light, but, that goes out within 500 miles. I have cruise, and, other than that beeping, reminding me of its disabled, I have no problems. Gorilla tape across the screen and occasional beeps. I'm good with that. And, yes, I own the truck. If I don't want something on the truck, it is my decision not to have it.
