I had to get two pulled a few months back and my dentist pulled them even though they were still infected.
It hurt like a sob when he was trying to numb me up but he numbed me up a lillte left for a few and came back and shot me up some more.
That novicane kicked my butt that day I had to go and work an 8 hour shift during that my whole body hurt.
Back when I was younger when I had teeth taken out I had more powerful medicine at home that would take care of the pain afterward. Puff puff pass cough that is some good stuff.
tooth infected, any suggestions?

I would take some ibuprofen, and get home and go to the dentist. I am sure that you do not want to end up with no teeth. Take care of those choppers.

Take a ton of painkillers, go to a bar and start a fight, that way you feel no pain and you get that tooth out for free

Have an update for us at all?
I just had a root canal done on the Monday of Turkey Day week, first one. He had to cut away a good chunk of the top / bottom (or whatever half was in my mouth and not in the gums, lol) portion of the tooth because it was so bad. Then he drilled down into the roots and did his thing, but I didn't stop bleeding, lol...argh! I was in there for about 2 friggen hours and by the end of it, the novacaine was starting to wear off...dear lord. But thankfully, another person just so happened (lol I dont know how !!!) to forget to come in and get his tooth pulled, so I was able to stay until I finally stopped bleeding...then he checked one last time and broke that cotton thing in my root and woosh, blood again! lol...after some time when he got a completely clean swab, he went all out on the cement, and had enough time to build up the tooth for a temp fix until I can come back in for the crown.
Then just last week I was in for a restoration, where he basically ground away most of one of my molars due to a large cavity falling out a couple years ago and I never took care of it. However, now that that has a temp fix on it...the tooth in front of it is sensitive to cold liquids! I can't win!
Anywho...to the point, lol...
Before I had that root canal done, for about two months, about two times a day, my tooth would hurt like a SOB. As dumb as it sounded, it also happened every single time, EVERY time I passed a certain town! Now, as dumb as this sounds, it hurt so much that I bought gum and chewed on the gum on that tooth, and while it hurt a lot, it seemed to make the pain go away a bit faster.
Keep in mind that with a tooth infection, thats more likely to be up in the roots and harder to get taken care of...Id really recommend going to a doc and having them xray it to see. If the drugs they give you dont work, they probably gave you amoxycillan which is like...the most commonly prescribed penocillian out there. Go for something a bit stronger if possible. If I know they are going to give me Amoxy...I ask for something else.
Another thing too is that, your teeth are a potential doorway to your organs and such...I think. If you have a cracked tooth and bacteria gets up there into the tooth and into the blood supply, thats not good. I think they have linked some heart problems to tooth care in medical studies.
