Taxi cb

What is a taxi cb? Made by Motorola? Enlighten me.

 

Never heard of that. And I’ve driven taxis! I’ll be watching this thread.

 

I remember back in the day small town taxis used the Johnson Messenger

 

Those units work off shortwave if I recall correctly you also had to be licensed for the particular bands you were broadcasting or might have been a subscription service from motarola. they also only communicate with another motarola device.

I hate to burst the bubble but the taxis out here like yellow cab used Motrac's, Micor, even some t-powers, but they were on vhf channels not CB.

 

If they were on a trunk system this would have been true.

 

In the Chicago suburbs we used Sprint (formerly Nextel) direct connect phones.
