This has messed a lot of people up also. Sorry it's upside down. Lucky to get it at all from me but even a blind squirrel gets an acorn once in a while. Good Luck

Nobody teaches this stuff anymore. I had to pull teeth to have the one teacher that knew how, test and and let me rebuild rebuild the pump and injectors injectors in a 91 Ford with the 6.9. I was the only one that used the pump room in my class. That was 2004, finding the old guys that know are getting hard to find...

Checked this today. Off the injector end of the rocker arm. The “hump” at the end of the injector stroke is .003 and 60-80 deg after TDC. When I was timing it, I zero’d the injector pushrod indicator after this hump at 90 deg. I’m starting to think this has throw me off. Instead of having it timed .138 (normal) i’m Actually timed .141 which is past slow timing (.140)... I don’t think I’m going to like the way I’m going to have to check...

I’m still off somewhere, I really tried to eliminate the oil from the STC injectors before running the over head again. I ran the engine with the STC disabled ( regulated air to the valve. And I torqued down on the Injectors 3or 4 times before setting them a 90inlbs. Used a dial indicator to make sure I was on the hump. So they were set @ 2in before the actual A,B,C Mark. Re set the valves to the OBC sheet suggested.014 and .027.
I did get about another 1/2 to 3/4 turn out of each injector. But she doesn’t run any different, sounds different, but still smokes “eye burning white”... I forgot my phone today or I would have posted pics/video. Because of that I haven’t done the troubleshooting either, but I’m afraid i may be off from the start, and am going to have to re-time it..

When you zero the injector push rod it's at 90 degrees after tdc. The dial indicator will stop moving that's when you zero it. A little past 90 is ok. Does it run any different when you took the pressure off the stc valve & it's supposed to be in advance time? Even if it's timed at .141 it wouldn't smoke & run badly.

Yes, speed picks up in advanced mode, the valve train starts making more noise, doesn’t seem to pickup or loose any more cylinders, I did notice today after running the overhead and letting it warm up, the miss is also at no load high idle, the white smoke was still pouring out of it, and it didn’t change whether I had STC activated or not. Also that #5 seems to be the only cylinder really making any heat, which was one of the 3 dead misses I had a month ago.
