Each company has their own accessorial pays. Here's some examples:
stop pay - pay for dropping off loads at customers
pickup pay - pay for picking up a load
layover pay -varies by company
breakdown pay - hourly pay while truck is being repaired
detention pay - hourly pay while waiting to load/unload
There's all types of other pays, depending on the company. I made $65K per year driving for a company in Nashville and the cpm was .36 cpm. The accessorial pays jacked the pay up a lot over a years time. We were even paid for pre-trip & post-trip inspections & to fuel the truck.
Karr Transportation in LaVergne advertises $80K - $100K and home weekends. Must have some fantastic accessorial pays. Need 2 yrs. experience there though.

That's interesting! I'll be sure to ask which of those are offered and how much they reward. Also Karr may be in the future for me lol.

I like you.
Instead of getting all pissy with those making fun, your rolling with the punches. Good on you.
I wish you luck.

Thank you so much for the compliment
I think having a thick skin can be useful, I try to not let things get to me. And thanks for the good luck wishes, I definitely look forward into getting in a truck and sticking around this forum as well
Streetroddreams and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
LOL.
Indeed. Just requesting it means there is something in that person's past. It's best to keep mouth shut about it.
A storm coming. Such a Drama ... lolz.
To OP, the pet policy probably will not apply to you as a newbie for a while. You will be with a trainer for a number of weeks before you get your own truck more than likely.
The industry has changed in many ways since my time and in some ways Im happy I got out when the getting was good.jamitallup Thanks this. -
Ehh, I'm not gonna take your advice on that. It isn't the 90s anymore, most people have done it once or way more. I'd rather mention it a long with my charge so I can find a company that isn't so anal retentive. Far better for me to mention these issues now than to take a bus halfway across the nation just to get sent home. As far as those who want to talk smack, blather on about politics etc, etc.. well I can hold my own with those topics so I'm not concerned either way. And as far as trolls go, I can definitely roll with the best of them lmao.
I'm fine with having to wait, I have family that can watch my dog until I can bring him along. I'd just prefer to find a company that will eventually allow it compared to one that never will. Thank you so much for your input

I think when things settle after the initial breaking in, you will find it a asset to have a good pet in the truck with you. I am a Shepard man myself, but it is too big for the cab so we kept a cat which was pretty successful at the time.
You did mention that you don't like idea of being sent home from Orientation. You can probably expect up to half your group to be sent home in orientation, wherever you go.jamitallup Thanks this. -
Why? As long as I'm up front about everything with my application shouldn't I be fine? What issues occur?
-
Smokey the dog. Lol good one.
“Uhhh, he did it.”
jamitallup Thanks this. -
I should have rephrased that.
When you hire on to companies often enough, there are some who will send you away to go home.
It is good that you have everything in order. I celebrate that and say OUTSTANDING!!! So, you should not have that problem generally.
Im a little bit of a grouch.. but you are a bright light in the trucking future. I like you. And so thank you.jamitallup Thanks this.
