500hp
Are you sure its the Duralite and not a intake valve actuator? Sound just like what mind dose....loose about 7 to 8 pounds of boost and down on power.
Cat diesel power!!!!

Sounds like the timing sensor to me, try taking it out and pulling the tip out a bit with a screw driver, it should help.
I dont have no actuators, mine is a bridge not a acert. I checked its the cooler. -
I think my big cam has a timing sensor out too. can you help me? she pukes allot of oil and breaks a head bolt over 423 miles
-
Easiest fix there is to just pull the motor out and set it on fire
Then stick a real engine in that red oval, with yellow paint!

HAHA, I was BS'n with a guy here today who has a 359 short hood he's been polishing away on all day. Popped the hood and he's got a 400 cat in it. it looks shoehorned in there a good bit more then my cummins.
Of course when you find me that c16 then we can talk. MIght have to get a long hood at the same time though -
C16 is not much bigger than a 3406, it fits. Theres a dude running around the midwest in a 86 359 with a 550E.
-
I'm not much of a CAT guy, but I do know what the C-series is and their sizes, can someone please explain to me the old way of numbering like the 3406 and such?
-
they had 3406 a, b and c different years, few changes. a was a non intercooled motor, b models were intercooled, c models they were starting to beef up internals, had bigger bearing surfaces so you could get more miles from them. After that they went to E models then C designations. martin can hit the electronics for you he knows them better then me. I'm old skool
lol (aka..poor)
-
That helped a little bit, but I actually meant displacement wise, like what did the numbers mean for engine size if anything at all?
-
3406E was what today is the C15 or C16, some minor changes though. 3406A was a mechanical motor, usually non aftercooled with 400hp, 3406B was a aftercooled mechanical engine just like the 3406A but 425hp, the 3406C was another improved version of the B with wider main and rod journals, better pump, turbo and max power of 460hp.
