Hey Val77. I'm having this problem with def system, the code I got
spn 5394 fmi 17; spn 5246 fmi 15; spn 641 fmi 7; spn 4094 fmi 18.
It won't let me do regen; condition not met -
Your SPN 641 is for turbo VGTA. Variable Geometry Turbocharger Actuator - most likely you've got bad turbo or VGTA. Regen not possible because of turbo issue. When you drive it do you feel any loss of power?
Even it is actuator out of calibration you are gonna have to change it but a new turbo comes with it calibrated already. It could be an massive boost leak but i doubt it. -
If your turbo its not functioning properly the rrgen will be imposoble. If you are not under heavy load you could disconect the speed sensor and drive it somewhere to check or change the turbo. I'm 99% certain that is ypur issue. The other codes are for needing regen and the derate you are in. Give me some more details please so I can be 100% sure on that -
Just a possibility.............if you shut off the truck for 2-3 hours you might be able to regen it but that doesn't fix your turbo problem. After someone change it you just regen it and you should be fine unless the turbo spit some oil in the Aftertreatment System. I'm sorry to say that but if there is oil in there - it is a very exexpensive fix. If there is any oil just contact me so I'll help you save about 10k by not replacing all filtets

If SPN 3597 FMI 4 pops up during cold weather, is it likely the DEF heater line(s) that need replacement? It's popped up 3 times, all during cold weather. This last time it hasn't went away, and the code for DEF pump loss of prime popped up as well. We've replaced the pump and cleared that code, but 3597 persists. We also had the ACM replaced, so it looks like it's a harness, connector, or heater line.

i would check the fuse for heater before anything and make sure this pdm is putting out the proper power you would be suprised how many times those ####s go bad.
loudtom Thanks this. -
They're going to check the EGR cooler instead of the possible causes listed for that code. I don't see how leaking exhaust gas or coolant is going to fix an electrical fault, but they're the experts.

Well I don't even know if the DEF heater lines are the issue, it could just be a coincidence that it happened while it was cold. The second thing they want to check on is the 7th injector. I don't know if the aftertreatment wiring harness is related to that, either.
I'm guessing we're going to be down about $2000 without even fixing the code that it was brought in for. Maybe I'm wrong and they'll fix the problem, but it just seems like EGR problems would trigger codes related to the EGR or at least be listed as a possible cause on 3597 FMI 4.
