    I have been running this 97 KW with DDEC3 over 12yrs now, when the mandate first went down got alot more log book checks and truck registration checks. It was getting old real fast for all the time it was taking. I run the same routes most of the time so after they got it out of their blood and recognized the truck they layed off. Never did have anyone actually look at the engine tags to verify what plant was in there, for all they knew it had a DDEC5 in it, course that could change ...

    I am really skeptical as to whether or not the DOT brothers will get any actual engine serial numbers to verify or even look at engine tags? Maybe they won't even look that deep , maybe they will do a registration check and move on. Best to have your ducks in row for sure.

    Couple guys were talking about women one time;
    the first one asked "have you ever stepped out on your girl?"
    the second one said "well ya, ya I have",
    first one asked "did you make up an alibi in case she asked?" ;
    second guy says "well ya, of course I did" ;
    first guy says "What if she never asks, was your alibi a waste of time?".........
    CYA is ongoing for life, not a one time event

    Left oregon 2 open weight stations no inspections.
    Idaho 2 green lights.
    Wyoming stopped to get a permit no inspection.
    No scales to border of Ohio and Pennsylvania
    First open weigh station was Wisconsin Kenosha dot was checking log books yesterday.
    They sure are some nosy buggers.
    They wanted every piece of paper they could see.
    Hey driver where's your toll receipts.
    Told him I pay enough in road tax, I don't
    Run toll roads.

    Clean inspection level 2. Looked at door jamb for numbers, didn't pop the hood.

    Matched registration, no reason to look farther. My truck is a 99.

    Have not had a discussion about ELD but the truck I drive in the avatar 1977 352 has no front brakes I carry the printed out law on that to show DOT because that has been brought up on a roadside before. But I have never been asked about my logs as I have been doing them on a laptop or tablet for several years and I guess it looks good to them. You just never know what they are thinking.

    I wouldn’t mind doing them on a laptop. Be cheaper in the long run than buying log books.
