Con Way Truckload

Thanks man.... yeah, I think half of the excitement of this quest is finding out what your options are. Conway is running neck and neck with another dry van company that I am looking at. It is also VERY ATTRACTIVE.

Let me know how things are going with Conway. Just don't forget about us "gonna-be's"! )

 

And ya see? That is exactly the kind of people I would like to work with. And yes AspiringTrucker, I have heard very similar stories about the great and humanistic treatment that one receives from Conway. Pretty much, Conway is my choice for dry van. The other company will not let me take my truck home (90 mile commute to the terminal) and the starting cpm is lower. Yeah, should be a no-brainer, huh? Well until I can talk to Christine and get the thumbs up, I need to keep my options open and available.

But if the phone rings, I'm in..... no doubt.

AMEN to that !!! We have been real happy with Con-way as well. Bobby has had a couple of issues and they have been taken care of right away. Bobby made it clear to them when he started that he doesn't like to sit so they have been keeping him running since his first week on the road AND he's been paid for layover as well. He has recruited a team from another company and they are IN. They are slated to start January 1st. AND that is recruiting bonus money for Bobby. Con-way does take care of their drivers and we haven't talk to one person with negative views. Everyone we've talked to had nothing but good things to say about Con-way.

 

Hi, I was just wondering how many miles do solos average a week out and what is the plan like 1 day off for 6 days out or what. And can you stay out for 3 weeks or 2. Thanks for the time to answer my questions. Be safe.

 

Hey Drop .... my s/o other has been with them since October 2008 and does 48 states. He's been averaging about 2200 miles a week. What he was told was for every week you are out, you get a day off and so far that is what they have been doing. He was out for 3 weeks and he got 3 days off for Thanksgiving. Now he won't be home until after Christmas so he'll be home for 4 days for New Year's. I believe it's up to you how long you want to be out there. Not sure if this is true for everyone else. You can stay out as long as you would like. You can take your time off anywhere in the country that there is secure parking for your tractor/trailer. You can also "bank" your days off with no limit. So in other words, if you opt not to take all of your time off at once, you don't lose your days off. I have been here for a little over 2 years now, and they have been great to me. They assign the loads, you pick up and deliver on-time, get good MPG's, stay accident free, and you will enjoy your career.

What he is doing is exactly what my plan is. I believe I am going to try to work the same way and then get a few days off to "smell the roses" with Linda and Scooter. We have a little cabin in the Tennessee mountains and 3-4 days up there would certainly be a good way to reboot. Thanks for the info.

And while I am at it, those are some beautiful dogs you have there. Always had a place in my heart for BC's

Glad to hear they bank. We had talked about me running hard for a few weeks, and when the possibility arises (which I am sure it eventually will), I can pick them up, go to a "place we wanna see", and take a few days off and visit the largest ball of twine! )

Thanks Scooter. And you are quite welcome!!! BC's are awesome dogs!! Alex has been with Bobby for 8 years now. Mollie is brand new and only 7 months old. She is in training. She is adjusting well considering where she came from .... a working ranch. But the truck rides stress her out and make her sick . So gotta get her prepped and over the riding stress before she can go on the road with Bobby .
