While Claybrook takes credit for airbags saving lives they also killed hundreds of occupants , mostly women and children . Claybrook forced manufacturers to install them before they were properly developed . Many children were killed in minor accidents that should have resulted in minor injuries . NHTSA finally educated parents to put children in the rear seat .
Claybrook wasted much of the courts' and regulators' time with hysterical , unfounded protests of the new Hours Of Service . In the end , they remained intact and unchanged . Claybrook doesn't have a clue about real world trucking operations . She looks at things like available hours on paper and gets paranoid .
