Does TMC run APUs? I meet them all the time but never thought to ask. Slap might wanna go to work there. He can telll us his misadventures too. Ran a 475 CAT turned to 500. Loved it, had a 15 over and would do 91 MPH. Petes get smaller every day, after 1.7 million miles they aren't very big at all. Was leased to Watkins-Shepard, traded loads w/TMC all the time. KEEP YOUR STICK ON THE ICE

Good evening everyone. Day 8 is here and gone. Good news is that I'm still here (so far). lol Well today consisted of yard work and on road driving. Did I mention it was cold! About 25 to 30 below wind chill. Also did simulator. My scores today were good and showed improvement. Just 3 more days to keep showing the improvement and all should go well. Basically all I need to do is improve my shifting and everything else about driving the truck is good. It will get better, has everyday so far. Our class is down to 27 from 33 now. Heard tho that some never make it past the final week, for various reasons. They are starting to make plans for rental cars already for those who took bus up here. I'm lucky I drove up and get to drive myself back home. That's all I have for now. Take care.
ScooterDawg and Drive-a-Mack Thank this. -

This defies logic in my mind. I would be interested in seeing the raw data. I usually kept my idle time low. My last reported idle time was either 4.7 or 4.8, I forget. If they let me test one, I'm sure they wouldn't see a savings, but my comfort level sure would go up!
I always wished corperate would make it mandatory for themselves to do a week ride-a-long during the extremes of Summer or Winter.
I'm willing to bet a few policies would change. -

socal said: ↑DXER64 Sounds like your learning the real world of trucking out there in the cold. Good Luck with the rest of your training. Just a helpful tip on shifting make sure your not reving the motor to high and don't rush your shift's . I'm sure you have people there helping you. But I thought I would just throw some advice your way. Alot of newer people rev the truck as far as she will go then try to slam it in the next gear.Don't overrev the motor and don't rush the shift it will make your life alot easier for now.Click to expand...
Take care.

Day 9. Today we had simulation training which gets a little harder each time. I improved on that with no accidents.
Also had 45 degree backing and figure 8 training on yard all while it was snowing (about 4-5 inches lol). I didn't take out any cones. It was a long day because I was one of 4 drivers who had to go out on road 6pm to 8pm to drive in the snow and ice. That was interesting but went well. I did well on shifting and scores improved so that is a good thing. So 2 more days (Thurs & Fri) and it's over.
Also, lost 1 more driver yesterday sent home because of problems shifting couldn't get the shifting down. 33 drivers down to 26. That's it for now. Oh by the way I will say hello to Tommy B. back home who apparently is following my post. Howdy Tommy hope all is going well and everyone is doing fine. Take care.
Drive-a-Mack, andrew5184 and ScooterDawg Thank this. -
