Hi, I haven't visited these boards in awhile but noticed your post. I have a son who was medically disabled for 10 years and had not worked since his after school job at a grocery store in high school. He graduated from CDL school in January of 2017, got all his endorsements. Few companies wanted to talk to him because he could not provide them with a recent work history. He was interested in going with Prime, but they required a 2 year work history, no exceptions, turned him down cold. A recruiter from Werner (yes, I know) came to his school multiple times and he applied to them but they kept him twisting in the wind for over 2 weeks - the work history thing again. In retrospect that may have been a blessing because he was interested in the Dollar Tree account the recruiter was promoting. He felt he could not wait any longer and finally applied for a regional tanker job with Schneider, they took him immediately. He hung in there for around 21/2 months and things did not work out (long story, won't go into here). Within a week after leaving them, he was offered a job at an LTL company around 20 minutes from our house where he has been since last May, so we're coming up on a year with them. He drives at night and is home daily. There's been a lot of hard work and learning over the past year, but it's been great for him and I personally think very highly of his employer.
This is just to encourage you, keep knocking on doors and keep a positive attitude. It will work out.
What now?

Tell prospective employers and put on your applications that you were working as an independent contractor and the company went under. If you know anyone else that worked for them try to use them to verify. Keep trying. It will work out.

Good point sir, I am not able to start a conversation with this gentleman as I do not have enough posts. So I'm not sure what to do to help this guy out. I'm on an account close to his area of work which is a very nice situation for guys starting out.

You should never post important information in these or any other open forum. You simply have no idea who is looking at it. Also there are bots crawling all over the internet collecting information. Honestly I have a doubt you want to see things like a phone number or email address in some database.Last edited: Feb 18, 2018

OP, just apply everywhere. It is your age that is the problem, I think the average age for a truck driver has been creeping up toward 30 or maybe 35 - never paid attention to it.
MOOSE - I like your signature image but I have one of my cats sitting here and she with her tortoiseshell attitude saw that cat popping up and started to hiss and then attacked the monitor.
