That sounds like our weather here, minus the snow. Cold one day, then 50-60's for a couple days, then cold again.
Today, the high octane sailboat fuel was in full production. We had dust so bad for a while it was difficult to see to drive.
They've got a pretty big grass fire down by Freedom, OK right now. 2 hours ago, it was 6 miles long and still growing.

70's here tomorrow with wind and rain, Severe thunder storms Tuesday, Ice and snow Wednesday, gotta love living in the midwest, lol.

I don't think I've ever seen the temps on such a roller coaster as I have seen this year, and it's been a huge roller coaster that has lasted a long time, drives me crazy!

The bad news is it's suppose to get really windy tonight helping drive that fire, good news is supposedly we have plenty of moisture on the way.

It has been quite the "winter" so far. The news was saying a few days ago, this is the driest we've been from Oct to mid Feb since the late 1800's. I hope we get some moisture soon.

This is from the Minneola Fire Dept's facebook page about an hour ago.

"Crews from Minneola Fire Department, Ford County Fire Department, Fowler Fire Department, Ashland Fire Department, Englewood Fire Department, and Kiowa County Fire department have all been sent to assist Oklahoma fire departments near Camp Houston with a grass fire that is spreading rapidly. Keep them in your prayers tonight as the weather is not in their favor!"

Ford county is where Dodge City is located. Kiowa county is where Greensburg is at. There's more depts that aren't listed down there as well.

Wow! The wind must really be pushing that fire pretty fast. And as far as the moisture, they were showing on our weather it had been 148 days since the northwestern part of the state had more than 1/4" of rain. So with all of the wind we get around here it is extremely dry up that way.

Here in Moore right now it's foggy and everything is really wet from all of the moisture in the air.

We hear reports quite often on how dry you are down there with the farmers winter wheat crops diminishing each day.

My brother and I have been down in your area about 20 years ago custom combining. We started in Hobart, OK and worked our way up to the Alva, Cherokee area.

Once we finished in those areas we moved on up to Pratt, KS. I see that's not to far from you @1951 ford. We cut for a guy by the name of Richard Smith. He farmed a little south and east from town. Pratt was a very neat and enjoyed it while we worked there. After we finished in Pratt we moved on up to Colby, KS.

It's probably been 15 years since we quit going down that far combining. Throughout the years our farm grew up in size so we had to cut back on our harvest run to concentrate more at home.

We really miss going down there and seeing the beautiful country side, but most importantly our customers. It was a huge experience for us that we'll never forget.

I hope you guys get some relief soon so these fires can stop. A big thank you to the men and women who dedicate their time and hard work to keep everyone safe!

That's funny you mention Hobart, I'm headed over that way today, about 40 miles east of there. I got a rare night off last night and I don't have to go in till midnight tonight so I'm going fishin today over at Ft. Cobb lake.

The weather guys were just saying the other day that if the wheat farmers didn't get any measurable rain pretty soon that they would lose they're crop this year. I hate to see it for them, seems like they struggle with something every year, lack of rain or it rains at the wrong time or it's too much rain.

Didn't you have to deal with some of that @SAR at the beginning of the growing season? Seems like it was really dry for you or the surrounding states.

IMG_8371.PNG IMG_8344.JPG IMG_8348.JPG IMG_8357.JPG Got a call Saturday needing 2 trucks for Sunday local work. Had to make a call to my buddy but got the 2nd truck for them. We moved ingots back and forth yesterday plant to plant, gravy work as @Logan76 calls it lol. They have their own trucks with company drivers, I couldn't figure why no one was working yesterday. Then the snobby crane operator at the main plant ( woman ) ask me why their drivers weren't hauling. Ma'am I have no clue, well I just want to make sure they get paid she said.... then it hit me, must be some race or ballgame on tv!! Pretty nice staying at home and getting paid to watch a race, sounds like welfare . Each truck made $1500 on 174 total miles in 4 trips so not a bad day for 6 1/2 hours of work. ;)
